    Market on AOKP?

I know, I know, I should read the manual before starting to put something together, but I'm a guy. So I have ICS running on my phone and I LOVE the layout and the features it has, very cool build and the AOKP ROM seems to be working fine. However, I don't see the Marketplace on here and navigating to the web site yields an error message about the device not being compatible with the update for the launcher? So my question is, how do I get items from the marketplace, so I can download Gmail, other apps, etc.? I have v39 of AOKP and running .621. Please tell me there is an answer.

Well here's the deal. I'll try to keep this brief, but detailed.

I spent a good bit of time working to get this loaded onto my phone, 602 SBF - Droid X - RootzWiki. I say that because I don't do this often and it takes me time to remember all the steps and research on this forum how to do the basics. At any rate, I got .621 installed, Gingerbread installed, rooted the phone and installed the Clockwork Recovery ROM, during this time having both the ICS AOKP ROM (v39) and gapps ROM on my SD card. I was able to use Clockwork Recovery to boot and install ICS, but got into the boot loop. So I tried to wipe the cache (Delvik wasn't an option), but that didn't allow the boot loop to stop. So I did the reset on the phone and now of course, I don't have Clockwork Recovery installed. So I think I know the answer to my question, but is there ANY way to get the gapp installed on the device without having to go through the steps again to install Gingerbread and starting back there? Can I download these ROMs from the web site, then load them on the phone?

The only option I have when I hold down the power button and Home button is to load ROMs from the phone, doesn't seem like from the SD card. And I know when I've tried before that I get failures, but that was before I rooted. I'll try and move the gapps ROM to a folder I can see and go from there, but that's what's happened so far.

Use rom manager to flash cwr and use rom manager to get into cwr, from there, you can scroll to gaps and flash it or while screen on, press and hold power button to select reboot into cwr

Hmm, I've tried to load a ROM (two actually) for Clockworkmod Recovery and I get a failure message verifying the file. I pulled the files from ClockworkMod ROM Manager - Recoveries, which I think is where I should have gotten them. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I hold down Power and Home at the same time and try to load the ROMs that way. Is this user error or are there other things I can try? No worries, I can just start from the beginning again.

The simple response is to find a copy of ROM Manager from a non-Play Store source. There is a few stores (like Appbrain I believe) that will allow you to download the apk to your PC/Phone separately (there is free versions of ROM Manager). You can then just install from the non-market source, open ROM Manager, and choose to Update Clockwork Recovery. You don't need to choose a source then to download from. Just choose the Droid X (2nd-init version). You should be able to then choose the option to Reboot into Clockwork directly below the update button in the same menu after it updates, and you should be able to get in and then flash the gapps.

I'm guessing by when you say load a ROM or two for Clockworkmod Recovery and a failure verifying file, you mean a .zip file, and you are trying to install it via stock recovery. Do you see Andy the Android in the background of where you are trying to install it? (Green android) with an exclamation mark?

    Power and home?
Here is what you need to do, open rom manager (available free in market) at the top is flash recovery, select Droid x ( 2nd init) after it is done, you can scroll to boot to recovery or install rom from sdcard, but you should already have the option to enter clockwork just by holding the power button down and only that button.
I feel that I'm missing something or just not understanding your exact situation but from my understanding, this is the way its done on my dx running .602 GB rom, I don't see why it would be any different on .621. I hope this helps

P.s. you can download your choice of rom with rom manager, the rom recoveries are your back up roms you set up manually. You can also download from rootzwiki, droidx forum, and other trusted sites with a computer then transfer to you sdcard via USB.

This is what I needed! Thanks. I'll tell ya though, it took FOREVER for it to boot to the ROM Manager. I think before maybe I was just impatient or something. It sat on the Motorola logo for minutes before it booted to the CW Manager. But for now it boots as expected with the CW Manager installed. Going to load the Gapp when the battery is charged.

Thanks and if I have any other newbie issues, I'll post.
