...and I can wait to see what else is coming down the pike when my new every 2 comes in September without feeling like I am way behind.

Verizon had the HTC Rezound on sale for $50 for one week. I chose the Rezound for my 2 year upgrade.
I now use the droid-x as a wifi-only device - sort of like an Itouch.
Wish I had AOKP on the Rezound.

The Rezound has the best radio chipset of all the 4G phones, good screen, will get ICS soon.
The bootloader can be unlocked and this week it was discovered how to turn off the S-ON protection to be changed to S-OFF.
This means developers can very easily access the kernel, radio firmware, every partition, absolutely everything is accessible.

started using this as my daily driver on thursday & i must say battery life is absolutely amazing....

clock & voltage settings:
Scaling: BOOSTEDassV2
clk1: 400 vsel1: 27
clk2: 800 vsel2: 45
clk3: 1000 vsel3: 54
clk4: 1200 vsel4: 67


hitting an average of 23 hrs with auto brightness & everything syncing at 30 min intervals with the exception of email being directly pushed...

This isn't really the thread for it, but what I notice most is:
o 1.5 Ghz dual-core CPU
o 2Megapixel front webcam
o 8Megapixel rear camera (people rave that its the best pictures, but I don't really use it much)
o It may sound stupid, but I really like the on screen keyboard. I can type with it so much better than with the droid-x.
o The unlocked bootloader means one can replace the stock recovery with clockworkmod or Ramon RA recovery. Everyone uses Ramon RA recovery in HTC world. One option in the menu is "root" - it is that simple.
o Only the Rezound and Thunderbolt have the best 3G/4G radio chipset. Supposedly no dropped data, and in a 3G only area one can turn off eHRPD protocol so it works as reliably as a standard 3G only phone like the DroidX. I have excellent 4G coverage at home and work, so not a real plus for me.
o Negative - battery doesn't last as long as on a droid x. It's that 1.5Ghz dual core cpu plus 4G eating at the battery. I carry a spare standard battery, because I don't like the extended battery and extended battery cover - too bulky and heavy for shirt pocket - but ok for holster use.
o just announced this week: at unlimited.io (no www in front of that url) is the software and method to turn HTC's S-ON protection to be S-OFF and also an optional better bootloader to flash. With S-OFF the bootloader, radio, kernel, everything is accessible and changeable for developers.
o it is predicted that developers will swarm to the rezound because of S-OFF, but others think it won't happen.
o ICS coming this year
o There are some ICS ROMs available, but no gummy or AOKP. For the time being I am staying on GB and waiting for the official Verizon ICS. Rumors are it will come in May 2012, but certainly this year.
o Hopefully after Verizon ICS is released there will be some AOSP based ROMs like AOKP available.

So, if you are up for a discounted phone for a 2 year Verizon contract renewal. The HTC Rezound is worth considering - especially if Verizon puts it on sale again for only $50

Yeah, that's as low as you can go with voltage on those clock speeds, anything lower & it likes to lag a good bit & do hot boots.

also have profiles set in set cpu for:
charging any: min-400 max-1200
priority: 95
screen off: min-400 max-800
priority: 90

Camcorder I see! Wow this Rom is really coming together so nicely with almost everything working now! ICS on the DroidX is something I thought would never happen, thank you developers
